Marie Templeton was the West End's local Historian for 20 years. She graciously supported our work on many occasions, sharing her time, her apple trees, and her vast knowledge of the fruit growing history of this area. It was from her that we learned that a person can fill a hollow tree with concrete and watch it grow and encapsulate the wound over time. Some of our first grafts came from the trees at her place, one of which is a seedling tree named after her, the Templeton apple.
