The Apple: Twenty Ounce apple tree produces an all purpose
variety that was first exhibited by George Howland of Massachusetts
in 1843. As the name implies, this apple can reach enormous
proportions. Attractive, very large, striped red flush over a greenish
background. Twenty Ounce apple flesh is white and semi- firm with
high quality; said to be the premier cooking apple for more than 100 years. Also great for dessert.

Location Found: Redvale

Tree: The tree was discovered by Howland who noticed the seedling
apple on his farm in Cayuga County, New York. The Twenty Ounce
apple tree is a small to medium sized that often comes into bearing

young.
